The Department of Aviation Technologies at SIUC is ranked among the best in the nation of FAA approved schools that offer the airframe and powerplant
certificate. In a five semester sequence of coursework students can complete the requirements gaining eligibility to test for the certificate or they may continue on taking additional coursework, concentrating on a particular area of interest in the Aviation Technologies as part of a Bachelor of Science degree. In order to maintain our nationally recognized ranking, Aviation Technologies continually strives to bring the most up-to-date, current information to our students. Below are just some of the ways we make that happen.
Graduate Review – By keeping in touch with Graduates and their new employers, we can assess how well our program has prepared new aviation technicians for industry.
Internships – These imbedded experiences from intern/externships for Aviation Technology students provides real life application of theories learned in the classroom.
Scholarships – Aside from external scholarships, Aviation Technologies offers in house scholarships in support of student’s success.
Advisory Committee – Aviation Technologies holds an annual industry led Advisory Committee meeting where faculty and students network one-on-one with
leaders from the industry’s top companies.
